Can Money Make You Happy?
Our pastor started a new Bible study series on the letter to the Philippians. Tonight was the second week and in our discussion he asked us, “What’s the difference between happiness and joy?”One person said, “Happiness is like a full cup. Joy is like a cup overflowing!” Isn’t that great?
It was the Peanuts comic strip creator, Charles M. Schulz, who said – Happiness is a warm puppy.
What makes you happy? Can Money Make You Happy?
Some people are happy to go fishing, or play golf, or read a book. Others are happy to just take a nap or go shopping. Personally, I am happy when I go on vacation.There’s a children’s song that says,
If you’re happy and you know – clap your hands [or stomp your feet, etc.]
Perhaps it shouldn’t be considered a children’s song, but a song that we all should sing, especially adults!
Can Money Make You Happy or give you joy?
I can’t answer that for you, but I can tell you what gives me joy…… when I spend time with my wife, children and grand children
… performing music with my son and daughter
… playing great music with excellence
I don’t believe that money can make you happy.
But it can sure help pay the bills! Money is a tool. It can’t buy you happiness, but it can certainly make your life easier, especially if you have enough of it.How much is enough? Every person is different and every person has different needs. But would a little more money allow you to do the things you want to do, the things that make you happy?
Do you want to travel the world, do you want to retire early, or do you want to make sure your loved ones are taken care of when you are not here? Would you be generous and give some away?
What would you do different to have more money?

Don’t let laziness stop you. Stay focused. Have a goal. Look for ways to help others. And then you can answer the question…
Joy is living my life and filling it with as much love and happiness as I can. Joy is giving my problems over to God and letting him handle what I simple can not do. Joy: my family and my friends
