Top Ten Favorite Christmas Movies of All Time according to a Baby Boomer

Top Ten Favorite Christmas Movies of All Time according to a Baby Boomer

Happy New Year
Merry Christmas
These are my 10 personal favorites.  It was hard to narrow down to just 10,
so I have another list below.  Please post some of your favorite, or why one
is your favorite in the comment section.  Thank you.

10. Holiday Inn [1942]
This was before White Christmas, but has the song White Christmas in it.
Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby

9. The Preacher's Wife [1996] [originally The Bishop's Wife] [1947]
Denzel Washington is great and so is Whitney Houston. But I also love the original B&W starring David Niven, Loretta Young, and Cary Grant.

8. A Christmas Story [1983]
Ralphie wants a gun, but they say he'll shoot his eye out.

7. A Charlie Brown Christmas (TV 1965)
I grew up on this in the 60's. There's nothing like the music of
Vince Guaraldi and the animation of Charles Shulz.

6. Christmas in Connecticut [1945]
Fell in love with this while watching it on Turner Classic Movies with Robert Osbourne.
Classic romantic comedy starring Barbara Stanwick.

5. Miracle on 34th Street [1947]
It's been remade so many times, but I love the one with Edmund Gwenn, Maureen O'Hara,
and a young child actress named Natalie Wood.

4. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer [1964]
I loved this growing up. We only had a B&W television, so I never saw it
in color until I was an adult.  We even bought the DVD and our
granddaughters watch it with us now.

3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation [1989]
Chevy Chase makes a delightful Clark Griswald and Cousin Eddie [Randy Quaid]
steals your heart with his innosense.

2. White Christmas [1954]
Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and the music of Irving Berlin

1. It's A Wonderful Life [1946]
Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed star in this "what if" movie. Best in B&W.  I remember I
cried one time when I was watching it alone. Or was that during a Hallmark commercial?
